I've been here twice on two different occasions while in the area for business. Lunch was good, but the dinner I had on my second trip was great. The place seems to cater to an older crowd, especially for dinner, but we enjoyed our dinner. We both had the special- surf and turf. The steak was cooked perfectly and the shrimp skewer was good too. The veggies and potatoes were also tasty. Although I wasn't paying, it was great food for a good price- much better than the nearby Outback.

The food is good. The service is adequate. The menu is a little overpriced, while covering the basics in a maybe too fancy way. The decor is stodgy and suffocating. I don't mean this in a rude way, but it seems like the restaurant caters to a "more mature" crowd. The bar is comfortable though, and it is usually where I will choose to sit when I visit. I greatly enjoy the Jambalaya and the Reuben (usually not together). The restaurant used to offer a Jalapeno tartar sauce that was amazing, but I'm not sure if it is still available. It's a good place to eat in Fort Wayne, but honestly, there are better options. I will certainly go back, though.

Great food and drinks. One of our favorite restaurants. I'm never disappointed with a Hall's restaurant. They always will do special meals for me and so sweet.

A group of seven of us had a radically different experience than the other reviewer to say the least. First, the service, ambience and appetizers (many!) were excellent. A really nice place to hang out and eat. BUT, most of us ordered some derivation of red meat and left quite disappointed ... "average" would be a compliment ... and how do you botch a steak or prime rib? I generously give this place three stars on the apps and the potential.

I agree with the other views, the decour is geered towards an older crowd. The food I found enjoyable though. I went with a family member when visiting fort wayne. I enjoyed the sinful pasta, which had an alfredo creme sauce mixed with some seafood. Decent amount of pasta. I had completed a run so it wasn't so much that I couldn't finish it. We were originally seated at a booth by the kitchen area, which proved to be loud. There were waitresses talking right behind us. A few minutes in, we relocated to another booth which did not have the same problem. Not a bad experience. Were seated immediately around 5ish on a saturday night.

The series of incidents here were so frustrating and annoying that it didn't matter how good the food was because everything else was such a nuisance. Brian ordered a frozen virgin margarita, and THREE times, the waitress brought a strawberry daiquiri. ??? He finally said never mind on the cocktail. For dinner, Brian ordered the brisket sandwich and the waitress brought him the brisket platter. He was totally fed up by this point. She offered to take it back, but he said he would be fine if she just brought the texas toast that the brisket sandwich would have been served on. The waitress came back with one piece of bread. Brian finally asked to see a manager who explained that the sandwich is open faced and would have been served with just one piece of bread. She did get him a second piece of texas toast, and she took his meal off the bill. I think everyone else's food was ok, but the annoyances of the situation with all the errors made the meal totally unenjoyable.

We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here in a larger back room. We had a wonderful experience both with booking the room and the day of. They explained the expectations clearly and executed perfectly. We were able to select four entree's to select from. We opted for a beef, chicken, pork and fish meal. Each came with salad (rather large) and baked potato. The fish was not my favorite but I did try some of the beef dish which was very good. Our group of 40 were rather pleased with their meals. The service was also good and everyone got their food at about the same time. It was nice of them to feed the kids first as they were getting restless. They also gave the kids pages of coloring books and crayons to keep them pre-occupied. Overall, really pleased.

Traveling from Michigan on our way to Mississippi, my mom and I stopped at the rather unique restaurant right next to our hotel. Our wait for the table to sit did not take too long. The decor of the place was great, including the fireplace with real fire inside to keep customers comfortable during a cool Hoosier winter. I liked the service and my Reuben. It would be better if the Reuben sauce was in the sandwich instead of in a container. My mom's salad was big, but delicious. Everything in the bill is great.

The service is terrible. If I wanted service this bad I would have gone to chilis. I waited almost an hour on a carry out order. How long does it take to cook a steak medium rare?

Stopped by for Sunday lunch with a friend. Neither of us had been here before even though we grew up hearing about Don Hall's restaurants. Food rundown: I had the "Mile High Brisket" sandwich. It was the first one listed, in the middle, under the specialty sandwiches...so I wanted to try it assuming it is their most-recommended. However, if this is their best sandwich, I don't want to try the rest. The first thing I noticed was, that it IS quite piled high.......just not with brisket. On the thick-cut garlic toast, was a little bit of fatty hickory brisket, and on top was slathered an inordinate amount of onions and disgusting cheese. I removed all the oily cheddar cheese, not wanting to try a single bite. It was so-so, but all I could taste was my onion sandwich, and the garlic from the toast. I think the garlic toast was the best part, but all the grease from the rest of the "toppings" made it soggy. Standard tasting fries, meh. Hellooo atherosclerosis! My friend's steak salad looked delicious, and she really liked it. (Looks like I'll be ordering that next time, if there is one) Dessert: chocolate sundaes. Hard to mess this up, came with all the standard toppings. The best part about this place....is the prices. Lunch was ~$10, with very good service. Decor-wise, it is very old-school [or just old], with a fireplace, and rustic walls. Hopefully the other Don Hall's places are better or maybe I ordered the wrong items. Food (5/10) Decor (3/5) Service (4/5) Value (5/5)

Here on a early Sunday afternoon intending to meet my girl friends parents to eat. The restaurant was not "very"? Busy but the hostess decided to place us in a very crowded banquet like room, where about 15 other people were seated right after us. Since we were waiting for her parents, we ordered coffee. For some reason, the staff completely ignored us after getting our drinks. We intended to order an appetizer while waiting but no one came back to our table, and no one could be reached as they walked by. We also saw staff and hostess "hanging around" and chitchatting and about halfway fighting with each other just a few feet from our table. It got so bad, we figured up the cost of the coffees and handed it to the waitress, we never got a chance to ask for a bill. We walked out, I've never had worse service. What a shame, I thought Don Hall's means a certain level of service.

Great location, good waiters and waitresses, courteous bartender. ordered chicken philly and the meat was, let's say, more like rubber! Could have done alit better. Will go again - may be for some drinks!

Visiting FW on business, I asked the hotel staff for a recommendation on a locally owned restaurant. It turns out that Tavern at Coventry isn't technically locally owned, there are sister restaurants throughout the state, but it's better than a chain. Also, the Hilton Garden Inn has 10% discounts for eating there, I assume the other local hotels have the same offer. Sitting at the bar, my service wasn't the greatest. As I was sitting down, I heard the bartender tell a server, "I'm"m so over tonight." -Not the best thing for a bar patron to hear. She lived down to her own expectations. Regarding the food, it was fine, but not great. I began with a Greek salad. It was a bit strange, especially the pineapple wedge on top. It also had chopped beets. I didn't eat the pineapple and the beets were fine, but they seemed out of place on a Greek salad. For dinner, I had the rib eye with a baked potato and steamed broccoli. The steak was absolutely covered in melted butter, I'd recommend leaving it off. Unfortunately, the steak cut wasn't thick, so it wasn't all that moist. (Which may be the reason for the copious amount of butter) The baked potato was fine, if a bit small. The broccoli was tasty, not overcooked. To summarize, this was a fair priced restaurant with average food. I'm not sure I'd go back anytime soon. However, they did have a really good selection of single malt scotch at very good prices. So maybe stick to a liquid dinner.

This place has amazing food! It's relatively inexpensive and the atmosphere is nice.

Kind of a dumpy place. I probably would have liked it when my kids were little. Way too many items on the menu to have a focus. Ordered a small filet. A select cut at best.

Everything we had was better than the previous thing. Food is excellant, service is excellant, and UNcle John loved the Bloody Mary. We were in town for some sad family events and stayed at the hotel just behind this place. It was so good, we actually ate here for a few meals. I highly recommend it.

For me it's a local hangout with the kids where the food is reasonably good (I have tried a lot on the menu and love the comfort of my Tavern Salad), service friendly and normally fast and going there it's a no brainer. Gets crowded on weekends.

Let's start with the good.......Ok that was fun now onto the bad. I asked for a medium cooked burger which I received a very well done burger. The Sahara desert has more moisture than this under seasoned bland and blue burger. The onion rings a scratch made but again not seasoned properly or at all from What I could taste. The sea food Alfredo pasta was also underwhelming the Alfredo sauce wasn't very good. Once again I waited for ever and day to get my change back after paying I'm not sure what's going on with restaurants today but when I'm ready to leave I'm ready to leave, not sit at an empty table waiting on change. I have no interest in returning to the Tasteless Tavern. My server was friendly and the atmosphere was nice so that's why the 2 stars.

Ate here a lot of times, and then I just stopped. For some reason, I just got so sick. It's like I was coughing up hair balls or something. I really liked the chefs dessert that comes free with every meal one time in your whole life!

Friendly bar and restaurant near the interstate exit. Nice variety on the menu, good service, and friendly staff. Old English atmosphere, pub feel to it. The big game on the tv by the bar, you can always find your favorite team playing.

One of my favorite restaurants in Fort Wayne ever since I was younger! Don't know what people are talking about when they are saying too many items on the menu, if you know what you are looking for then it isn't that massive! You're at a Hall's Restaurant, get the prime rib! Duh! Their appetizers are great! We got the fried cheese filled ravioli and the stuffed mushrooms last time we were there and they were fantastic! This restaurant is great for all ages! It is great with bigger family get togethers!

If only a handful of restaurants could be recommended for toddlers in Fort Wayne, the Tavern at Coventry would be in it! A fan of all Halls' locations I love the family tavern appeal of this one. Back often, never disappointed with menu...and service always what's expected.

Not bad. Service wasn't great, but wasn't bad. Food was under-seasoned, but not bad. The decor is a little dated, but also not bad. Overall not excellent, but not bad.

Worked as a server at the Coventry location for about 3 seconds before I couldn't take it anymore. The back of the house is disgusting and violates pretty much every single health department regulation you can think of. The front of the house is a joke ran by two old ladies that have absolutely no concept of hospitality and are only there because they are family of the owners.I was actually treated very poorly by their staff. My grandfather used to love going there for their burgers and would drag the family in once a year around Christmas. Not anymore. He refuses to go back and no doubt tells people he knows (and that's quite a long list) exactly why not. There has been a now hiring sign out front for about 10 months for a reason.

We always dine at Don Hall's at Coventry when in Ft. Wayne. Twice this trip and everything was excellent! Good service, cozy tavern atmosphere and fine food. Strongly recommend the scallops with fried spinach, pecan encrusted chicken with wild rice and surf and turf special. A pleasant change from the kids' sports bars and ethnic foods of Bloomington IN. Don Hall's restaurant for grown-ups.

Walked in. Saw the "Don Hall" sign over the door. Cringed. Looked around. Just as run down and pathetic looking as their other restaurant, "The Factory." Left unscathed. Whew! Glad to have dodged that bullet!

I was seated right away in the bar area and my server was waiting to take my drink order. I ordered their signature prime rib medium, Caesar side salad, and vegetable medley. The salad was brought out directly had crisp lettuce and a perfect amount of dressing. It seemed as soon as I finished salad the prime rib and vegetables arrived the prime rib medium as requested. I topped it all off with warm apple pie and vanilla ice cream. All in all a great dinner.

A little disappointed. After seeing the crowd, I expected the food to be better than average. Waited 30 minutes to get seated (which wasn't bad), 15-20 to get dinner rolls, another 50 min to get the food that my family and I ordered. I got the bbq pork chop with mac n cheese and mashed potatoes. The chop was dry and under seasoned, the mac and cheese was cold, but the mashed potatoes were warm and alright. My family seemed to like their chopped salad with salmon and nachos, though. It took forever to get refills because our waitress seemed to be preoccupied with the people she knew that was seated at the table behind us. I didn't send any of the food back because we probably would've been there longer.

While paying my check at Tavern I was thinking of my Yelp rating and the following words came to mind, "meh, okay, I've had better..." Does anyone else think this way? Why sub par? Well, the restaurant Little Richards comes to mind only with more of a publike feel - and I don't believe Little Richards carries liquor. Think salads with iceberg lettuce and more meat than greens - I'm not sure why this bothers me, maybe it's because even when you're trying to be healthy it's impossible with the bacon, egg, chicken piled on every salad. A vegetarian salad? Why, that'd be silly... The warm rye bread with butter to start the meal off was enjoyable. My long island was on the sweet side - heavy on ye ole mixy mix. The menu is heavy on comfort food options like meatloaf, filet for less than $17, bbq beans and mac n' cheese. Our waitress was on the odd side. I hate to say it but her lack of zest led me to ask her for a to-go cup for my long island. It was a bachelorette party group, I was totally sober, yet couldn't help myself. (insert dumbfounded look) I promise it wasn't bitchy, I was just joshin' around...

Prime rib was good, not fantastic, but good. It was a bit on the cold side, could have been much warmer. Service was very good, nice clean and friendly place to dine.

Decor. 4 star Service. 5 star Food. 3 star I truly enjoy eating at a local haunt when traveling as I can eat at a chain anywhere. So I figure that at least it's a one time experience worth trying. Prices are definitely reasonable. Impressed at the wide variety of options on the dinner menu. Service was absolutely awesome. I had the Tavern Salad with salmon. Huge salad. Great trimmings. The salmon was quite pedestrian. Yet, here's the thing: you can't expect Alaskan style salmon in Fort Wayne, Indiana! Seriously. I've been to Alaska many times. Once you eat salmon off the grill that you caught from the river that day, everything is a downhill experience from there. However, my dad had the same salad with grilled chicken, it was loaded with chicken, and he said it tasted great. Would I try this place again. I believe I would. Great decor. Quiet. Rooted. Worth try for sure.

Decent little tavern / restaurant. Good slab of prime rib for the money. Try the artichoke stuffed mushrooms for an appetizer. Trying the kalamata pasta tonight. Reasonable prices with good portions. Ok don't try the Kalamata pasta. Ugh!
